Cloud Storage & Sharing

GPEX Cloud provides online storage, cross-device synchronization, and sharing capabilities for your projects.

Getting Started with Cloud

  1. Open the ExtendButton (top right) → Cloud menu
  2. Click Sign In / Up to open the login modal
  3. Choose your authentication method:
    • Email OTP: Enter your email → receive a one-time code → verify
    • Google OAuth: Click the Google button → authenticate in a popup
    • GitHub OAuth: Click the GitHub button → authenticate in a popup
  4. Once signed in, you'll see your storage quota and project options

Note: All core editing features work completely offline and free. Cloud storage is an optional convenience feature.

Saving to Cloud

Manual Sync

Click Sync to Cloud in the Cloud menu to save your current project.

What Gets Saved

  • Complete project state (all layers, masks, adjustments)
  • All image assets (content-addressed, deduplicated)
  • A thumbnail preview for your gallery
  • Project metadata (name, dimensions, layer count)

Sync Status

Status Meaning
Upload Never been saved to cloud
Unsaved changes / Sync Local modifications since last sync
Synced Rev N Fully up-to-date (N = revision number, increments with each save)
Offline Cloud service unavailable

While saving, the menu shows the live progress phase: Packing…, Uploading… / Updating…, then Saved! (or Updated to Rev N), or Failed on error.

Cloud Gallery

Access your cloud projects via the Cloud Gallery item in the Cloud menu. This opens a fullscreen browser panel for managing your stored files.

View Modes

  • Grid View: Large thumbnail cards arranged in a grid — best for visual browsing
  • List View: Compact rows with metadata — best for quickly finding a specific file

Timeline Grouping

Files are automatically grouped by date (Today, Yesterday, weekday name, or full date) so you can easily find recent work.

Per-File Information

Each project card displays:

  • Thumbnail preview (auto-generated during save)
  • Project name (from the manifest)
  • Dimensions (canvas width × height)
  • Layer count
  • File size (formatted)
  • Revision badge (Rev 1, Rev 2, ... increments with each save)
  • Format badge (v1 or v2 — the OpenGPEX architecture generation the project was created in; v2 files cannot be opened, shared, or deleted from the v1 editor)
  • Last updated timestamp

Per-File Actions

Each project has three action buttons:

  • Open (📂): Download from cloud and load into the editor
  • Share (🔗): Generate a share link and copy to clipboard (shows a toast with the URL)
  • Delete (🗑️): Remove from cloud (with confirmation dialog)

Storage Quota

Your cloud account has a storage quota:

  • Used / Total: Track how much space your projects consume
  • File Count: See how many projects you have stored
  • The quota information is always visible in the Cloud menu

Sharing

Share your work with others via share links:

  1. Open the Cloud Gallery and find a project that's already saved to cloud
  2. Click the Share button on the project card
  3. A unique share URL is generated (idempotent — re-sharing the same file returns the same link) and shown in a toast for copying
  4. Send the link to recipients — they can view or download the shared file

Note: Share-link revocation (Unshare) exists in the cloud API but is not yet exposed as a button in the v1 UI.

Conflict Resolution

If you try to load a cloud project that conflicts with your current local work:

  • A warning dialog appears
  • Choose Overwrite to replace local work with the cloud version
  • Choose Cancel to keep your current local state

Privacy & Security

  • Your projects are stored under your authenticated account — only you can access them
  • You can delete your data at any time from the Cloud Gallery
